Woman Asks If She Was Wrong For Bringing SIL’s Wallet To The Restaurant Which She Always Seemed To “Forget”

bringing sister in law's wallet

If you give someone a fancy talk, you should have evidence to back it up as well. Don’t become a beggar when they have to face the reality. Yes, I am talking about those people who always act like they live on cloud nine and are always talking about the fancy places they go to and shop and eat from. And when you actually ask them to actually go to those places together, they will back right out by making the most hilarious excuses. And that is because they had never been to such places and they had always been lying about it just to score points. I really don’t understand why some people do this.

Some like to go one step ahead by taking their friends and relatives to expensive restaurants with the hopes that others will pay and they will actually get a freebie out of it for suggesting the restaurant. Yes, such choosing beggars exist all over the world.

In today’s story, we have a woman, OP’s sister-in-law who would make reservations at the most expensive restaurants every time she would come over to stay. Everyone would then go to the restaurant, have the nice food and when the time would come to pay the bill, the SIL would always either forget her wallet at home or come up with an excuse for not paying.

This kept going on and on until OP decide to make a fix and also teach SIL a great lesson. One time while they were leaving for the restaurant, OP slipped SIL’s wallet into her own purse. When the time came to pay the bills, OP asked the waitress to make separate bills. SIL interrupted by saying she forgot her wallet so make a single bill. That is when OP revealed SIL’s wallet out of her purse and her reaction was priceless.

1. Ah, don’t we hate one of those who always “forget” their wallets at home?

3. But every time they would go to such restaurants, she will either forget her wallet at home or make the absolute worst excuses for why she cannot pay and why OP should pay.

4. Historically, OP had just been paying the bills, and never for once SIL thought it would be good to return the money she owed OP.

OP was NTA. In fact, she should’ve gone a step far and asked for a single bill and just pay using the SIL’s card. She should’ve made that woman realize what she had been doing is entirely wrong and she shouldn’t be doing this to anyone.

Oh and what is the deal with the husband? Why did he never tell his sister to double-check her wallet before they left for the expensive parties? He is doubtful.

9. Your story was great, OP.
