Wedding dresses hold a lot of significance.

Weddings are important occasions that, if you’re lucky, occur only once in a lifetime. As a result, it is not surprising that people spend so much money on the day and the clothes they wear. As a result, brides place a high value on their wedding gowns. And I’m sure we’ve all seen our mothers save their wedding gowns for their daughters to wear on their wedding day. It usually doesn’t work out because the sizing is off or the dress is out of style, but the thought is what counts. And a significant number of people end up wearing their mother’s wedding gown on their wedding day, so it is worth it.

That is the focus of today’s story. You see, the poster of this story is a 16-year-old girl who has always wanted to wear her mother’s wedding gown. The dress has special meaning for her because it was custom-made for her mother by her late father. And her mother always claimed that it was her daughter’s as well. However, this statement was called into question when the stepdaughter requested to wear the wedding gown. As you might expect, OP and her mother were not enthusiastic about the idea. However, OP’s stepsister and stepfather are furious at her for making such a big deal out of it.

But that was brought into question when her step-sister talked about it.

Apparently, her step-sister wants to wear the wedding dress.

OP’s mother isn’t sure but her stepdad is all for it.

This obviously caused OP a lot of distress and she locked herself in her room.

But she doesn’t does know what to do now so she turned to Reddit for help.

I’m surprised that her stepfather and stepsister don’t understand why it means so much to her. Even if they are unaware that this is her father’s final memory, they should recognise that they have no say in the matter. It would be a different story if the dress in question was the one the woman wore for the second wedding, but it isn’t, so her husband should have no say in the matter. And, with the alterations comment, the step-sister is simply being a bully. I can only hope that the mother and OP stick to their guns, because I can’t imagine how painful it would be for OP to be forced to give up her wedding gown, which is obviously very important to her.

People in the comments however were 100% on her side.

It would have been fine if it was the second wedding dress but it isn’t.

A lot of commenters had the same question.

And apparently, it is because she doesn’t like it.

Brad is honestly just bullying his stepdaughter now.

I know teenagers can have dramatic reactions but OP seems justified this time.
