Ever heard about someone being fired for siding with the truth? Well, you will today.
Our parents, our teachers, our relatives, and whoever has been involved in our positive upbringing has taught us to never lie. Always be truthful no matter how much deep trouble it gets you because siding with truth will always get you success in the longer run. So technically, speaking the truth would never cause any problems for you. But, it did to this one employee.
The company decided to raise prices in order to give the employees a raise of $1 per hour. They posted this notification for the public to see. One customer noticed the letter and decided to inquire. They came up to OP, should them the notification letter, and asked if they actually got the raise for the raised prices or not. And OP truthfully replied that they hadn’t.
The rest you must read yourself. Scroll down below to read what happened with OP after she honestly replied to a customer.

At first, when OP said they never got a raise, they actually had no clue about such notice so they were being honest and were actually intrigued to ask the boss if there is any raise pending. But when she got to know that there is no raise pending and none of the employees are getting a raise, then her siding with the truth was more certain and robust. This time she spoke the truth to let the customer know about the hypocrisy of the company she had been working in. And of course, when the orders got canceled, the bosses realized the error they had made but it was too late. By siding with lies, the owner just lost a very good employee. I am sure OP will get a better job in no time. But the reputation of that franchise is now down the drain.
