Artist Illustrates Mental Illness And Disorders To Fight The Stereotypes About Them

Mental health issues are something that aren’t talked about much. People think these mental disorders are rare but they’re actually more common than we think. Even some people around us who appear more composed and happy are sometimes suffering from some sort of mental illness in silence. A great number of people around the globe think getting help from a psychologist is a shameful thing as only people who have lost their minds and are mad go to psychologists. In reality, there is no reality in this.

It comes as a surprise to us when we find out such big and difficult medical names of these psychological disorders. We probably never heard about most them except anxiety, depression and stress. These are common among people of all ages and are readily experienced. Another widely accepted myth about these mental illnesses is that only grown-ups and adults go through these mental health issues. Kids and teenagers don’t have anything to do with these. Unfortunately, a number of teens and young adults are affected by these mental health issues and become suicidal. In the year 2019, many suicide cases were reported around the globe and most of them were young people. To fight the mental health issues, it is important that the patient receives proper medical help and guidance along with emotional support and motivation from the patient’s close family and friends. A person’s will power along with proper medication can treat any kind of mental health issue.

Hope these illustrations shed enough light on this grave issue of mental health that one seeks help from a professional whenever they feel like not being able to control an overwhelming feeling or emotion. It is our moral obligation to take care of not only ourselves but also those around us. We must not leave our loved ones alone. Always make sure to check on your family and friends every now and then. You never know who might need your help. Sometimes these disorders consume even those who seem alright as this is an issue no one openly talks about.

Some people are afraid of being mocked and others don’t want to be seen as vulnerable if they open up about something as personal as one’s feelings and emotions. So be kind to those around you so people can easily talk to you about themselves. Do share this information with others and spread awareness about mental health.
