In a tale of contrasting incomes, a young couple grappled with the strain it placed on their relationship. With an annual income of 70k, the girlfriend significantly out-earned her boyfriend, who worked as a bartender. His erratic work schedule, often just four days a week, adds to the tension.
OP’s financial stability is connected to a tough past which she clawed her way out of. Opting for an affordable college and pragmatic major, she sacrificed personal passion for stability. Her relentless work ethic, however, led to spinal injuries. Despite setbacks, she persevered until her graduation, only to discover her boyfriend’s betrayal and subsequent theft.
After a grueling recovery, OP secured her current job, diligently building a financial safety net. Though now financially secure, tensions persist in her relationship as money remains a sensitive issue between them.
