After a grueling recovery, OP secured her current job, diligently building a financial safety net. Though now financially secure, tensions persist in her relationship as money remains a sensitive issue between them.

I think the boyfriend is trying to set OP up. Perhaps by guilt tripping her. She needs to stay firm at her stance. She worked hard to reach the position she is in today. So can he. As simple as that.
NTA because making money is not a baby’s task.
