When you thought your awful superiors couldn’t get any worse, they proceed to do something that is almost certainly completely unlawful. That’s accurate. This boss made the decision to fire Jess, a single mother who had just returned to the office after maternity leave since it would be more cost-effective, better for the team, and best for their clients. u/Happy-Mind-2618 posted this thread to Reddit’s r/AmITheA**hole subreddit. It only takes a few sentences into this boss’s attempt to defend their actions before it becomes clear that they are a terrible manager without a sense of morality. The hiring of a stand-in for Jess, while she was away, was the first serious error. That replacement was a young man who had just graduated from college and had no work experience, allowing the boss to pay him significantly less.
Not only is it terrible to terminate a new mother for reasons that were entirely out of her control, but it’s also unprofessional to select a younger, less experienced man to take her place. Let’s hope this boss reads all of these vicious remarks and soon faces a nice, sweet lawsuit.

Jess came back but there was a problem
