No matter what the culture of your family is, new moms should be given some rest.
Mothers are always expected to do great things and people expect the same from new moms. New moms go through a lot and should be given some time to relax, rest and enjoy the post-partum period rather than expecting them to cook for the whole family. In Asian culture, the families take a lot of care of the new mothers. They feed them nourishing soups, and do not let them do anything but rest. The families even bring meals for the new mother rather than expecting her to cook traditional meals. Today, we have a story of a new mom whose husband’s family wanted to visit them and see the baby. OP, the new mom kept holding them off because she knew she would be expected to cook traditional meals for them. OP was already exhausted but one day, her husband’s family showed up. OP was frustrated to see them as she did not know that her husband has invited the family for dinner. Scroll down to read the rest of the story.

The post-partum period is a time when the mother bonds with her baby. She should not be expected to do the household chores as she might go through post-partum depression but OP’s family did not care for her health. They cared about their traditions and got disgusted to see Mac n Cheese. There is nothing wrong with Mac n Cheese. The husband’s family should have been happy that OP did not complain about their behavior and welcomed them happily.
