People’s lives have altered dramatically in the last several years. Take, for example, the epidemic. We were suddenly confronted with a brutal reality that promised us nothing but an uncertain future. In fact, many people are still battling because it turns out that letting go of negativity is not as simple as it once was. Everyone has their own little routine that helps them get away from all of the negative messages that life occasionally throws at us; some people enjoy a relaxing stroll in their local park, while others enjoy scrolling through their social media feed in the hopes of finding something entertaining that will help them relax.

“I am praying this reaches this young mans parents!!! Tonight as I was leaving football practice with my three kiddos my 4 year old was so tired he started crying and acting a fool as we were getting in the van. My 7 year old daughter started crying because I told her we were having red potatoes as a side for dinner and clearly she wasn’t a fan sooo I threw my hands up and said FORGET it – McDonald’s tonight!! We go through the drive through order food all three kids are now crying for one reason or the other I go to pay – I LEFT MY PURSE AT HOME. Welp now I wanted to cry. I look at the young man with tears in my eyes just from being stressed and annoyed and say “hun I am so sorry but I have to cancel that order I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight” WITHOUT HESITATION he takes out his wallet and swipes his card before I could even say “no I will be right back!” I was like wait no hun it’s ok I will come back through then he replies “no it’s totally fine, my pleasure”. I snapped a quick picture and asked his name to which he replied Wyatt ma’am. I told him I would be right back with cash for him & he tried hard to talk me out of it. I just want his parents to know how KIND & COMPASSIONATE your son was tonight! He made this stressed out momma pause for a moment and realize this is exactly what we parents are trying to do, raise great humans. Well Wyatt sir, you are an amazing human!!! I went back and handed him cash and had to make him take it because he didn’t want to take more than he had paid but I wanted him to know that when you put good out in the world it comes back to you ten fold! Wyatt, do not let this world change your kind heart young man for its people like YOU that will change this world for the better!”

Although scrolling through your social media feed is a fantastic way to escape the harsh realities of life, it’s no secret that it can also be rather harmful. Apart from providing multiple outlets for enjoyment, we are frequently confronted with bullying, unrealistic body image demands, and, possibly, life in general.

We think we’re up to date on the world’s wonders, but what we see is a highly edited portrayal of people and their lifestyles.

Given how overwhelming the internet can be, the developer of “Delightful News” believes that people must “adjust their narrative and not allow the negative/trolls to rain on their parade” in order for the platforms to become more positive.

It’s easy for people to hide behind a keyboard and intimidate others, but people must remember that just because something is easy doesn’t mean it’s right.

“Be the light that the world needs, and that can be in any capacity, not just social media,”, according to Joseph, most of us are so preoccupied with absorbing the gloom that we forget our own mission.

“Meet Satchel. He is the only employee here at Homewood Suites in Beaumont. The access road is underwater and I10 is shut down due to flooding. We can’t get in or go out. The hotel a mile from us is under water. Satchel has been here all night. His coworkers couldn’t make it to work so he stayed. He has manned the phones, answered each of our questions, ensured that we have had a hot cup of coffee or tea, and helped serve us a hot breakfast. He has handled this situation with grace, kindness, and a beautiful smile on his face. Sometimes we ask ourselves why God allows things to happen but we are not designed to understand his ways. I do think that sometimes He allows things to happen so we can be His light and share the love of Christ with others. I have seen a big teddy bear of a man washing dishes and serving eggs, a little grandmother wiping down tables, and a man drenched from head to toe because he crossed i10 to deliver bottles of water to truck drivers who have been stranded on i10. We saw a helicopter land at the hotel adjacent to us where the parking lot is underwater. Someone had to be flown out. I’m looking at my table and see a leftover bagel from breakfast, my hot cup of tea, my cozy socks, and dry tennis shoes. I am thankful for each of these things and for the peace in knowing that my family is safe and sound. Please pray for us and that we can each make it home safely to each of our families. If you know Satchel, tell him he is our hero! He gave me permission to share his picture. What an example of how to handle yourself in a crisis! Goodness gracious! I will stay here next time just knowing that despite whatever happens, I will have someone putting our needs above his own needs. Thank you Satchel for taking care of us here at Homewood in Beaumont. 😊”

“So today this little boy came into the store and asked me ‘where do you guys have the cheapest shoes?’ so I showed him were they are. So I asked him. If these where for school. He said yea. I looked at his feet and saw the shoes that he was wearing were destroyed. Literally they were breaking apart. I asked him if he wore that for the first day of school and he said yes. He told me in a low voice a story and that sh*t broke my heart. I told him. Don’t worry. Pick any shoe you like. He said why ‘I’m not gonna have the money’ I told him ‘don’t worry, I’ll buy them for you.’he was like ‘really?!!’ I said yea of course. He got his favorite shoes. And I told him to make me a promise. To get good grades and be good in school. He said he promises. He kept telling me this is unreal and couldn’t believe it was happening. So my new buddy walked of of finish line with a brand new pair of shoes for the school year.. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing someone with a smile on there face. Helping people is the best gift god has given me. Have a good school year. Bless up.”
