Tenant Asks If He Is Wrong For Not Giving Up Parking Spot For Disabled Lady

Doing the right thing can cost you a lot sometimes.

We grow up with our parents telling us to help the less privileged. That is just basic manners that we learn from an early age. It helps a person develop empathy and kindness. When you do anyone a favor, you are doing it out of the kindness of your heart. It is true that we do not owe anyone anything, but if we do something just to be kind, it makes us a good human being. For example, if you see an old man trying to cross the road, you would go and help him as he is very fragile and can not move too fast. You don’t necessarily have to help the old man but you do it anyway because you are a good person. However, we can only help someone to a certain extent. We should not cause ourselves too much discomfort just for the sake of helping someone else.

This man on Reddit shared his story where he explained that he was assigned a parking spot according to his lease. A disabled woman moved in soon after and automatically expected him to give up his spot even when he had nowhere else to go. He asked if he was wrong for not giving up his parking spot for the disabled lady. Scroll down below to read the whole story:

The Redditor gave up his parking spot for this disabled woman as a good deed in the beginning.

She made his life a living hell, calling him extremely early in the morning and asking him to move his vehicle.

He needed to use his car but the disabled tenant refused to move her van.

She didn’t negotiate with him and gave him several reasons to tow her van, so he did. He told the apartment manager that this is his headache and asked him to keep him out of the issue.

I personally think if you’re doing someone a favor, they should be grateful to you and that they shouldn’t take advantage of your kindness. The man has no other choice but to use the parking spot that was assigned to him. He is not obliged to sacrifice his spot for someone who can’t even be nice to him in return. He was doing it out of the kindness of his heart at first but then the woman messed it up. The guy isn’t wrong in this case.

This is what other Redditors had to say about the whole story:

A lot of people sided with the guy.

For someone who gave up their parking spot and put themselves in a tight spot, he actually did the right thing.

This user asked why the employees working there didn’t give up their own space to her instead.

The rest blamed the manager, and rightfully so.

They did not blame the woman either.
