Dogs are adorable creatures that almost always bring joy and unconditional love to our lives. However, like all living creatures, caring for them requires many resources and proper effort. It can be challenging to allocate animals and integrate them into our family sometimes, especially when times are tough. If neglected, the dog can also become anxious and unhappy. Sadly, some people see pets as objects for entertainment and think that the animals can be kept away when they aren’t needed. This can even happen with human relationships, where a partner may be treated like an accessory or someone just for entertainment to be locked away when not useful. #1) Is OP in the wrong here?
#2) A few years ago OP was pressured into having a dog by her husband, and soon all the responsibilities of the dog and their kids fell on OP.
#3) OP comparatively gets less sleep and is also in charge of sending her kids off at school, which her husband uses as an excuse to ask her to take the dog out too.
#4) There’s a lot on OP’s plate while her husband just takes his time in the mornings. OP finally had enough today when she had to spend 30 minutes chasing the dog after it broke loose.
#5) After that, when OP’s husband asked OP to take the dog out for a walk, OP declined which made her husband angry.
It’s common for people to want to adopt dogs as household pets because of how cute they are and the companionship that they bring. Then again when they experience the harsh reality of taking care of an animal properly they may quickly lose interest. You can’t treat their dog like a toy, just like you can’t treat your partner like your maid. It’s important to re-evaluate your decision multiple times and make sure that it’s well thought out before committing to a pet. Aside from this, consent is crucial when making such decisions and it requires a clear and loud “yes” from all people who are involved.
