Why do people always want graphic designers to work for them for free?

Why do not we value graphic designers? Why are people not willing to pay graphic designers? Why do they want their services for free? People should know that graphic designing is a skill that graphic designers have mastered after spending years. If a graphic designer completes a project in 15 minutes, that does not mean they should be paid a lesser salary. They have spent years learning how to do that certain thing in 15 minutes and clients should respect it and pay them the right wage.

Graphic designers have been complaining about this issue for a very long time but this time, a graphic designer decided to take this issue to Reddit and he did. He shared the screenshots of his conversation with a client who wanted to get merch designed with two of the best options. Also, he wanted creative work. The designer got excited to hear about the project as it seemed like a big project. But, as soon as OP asked about the pay rate, he knew this is not meant for him and that he should not do it. OP asked about the pay rate and the client told him that he wants someone who is just looking for exposure. OP told him that no one would like to work for exposure because exposure is not going to pay his bills. This client kept acting as a choosing beggar. Graphic designers are also humans. They have families, they have their expenditures and they have bills to pay. Clients need to act professionally with graphic designers. We appreciate this graphic designer to put this choosing beggar in his place. No one should offer their services for free. Clients who say “they will pay you later or will give you a percentage from their results” are just a scam. If you are someone who offers any kind of services, please be aware of such people. They are just getting their work done for free. You are worthy, you are skilled and your services are not for free. And trust us, you will find someone who will be willing to pay you a good amount for your creative work.
