Dog Owner Bashes Friend For Not Wanting To Be Near Their Service Dog On Trip

Service Dog Vbro

Reddit user u/Salt_Maintenance_686 shared they booked a house with 14 friends, and one of them had a service dog, which the owner of the house permitted. However, OP, who organized the tri,p did not want the service dog to be left alone at the house when they went out for activities or bar hopping, because they were worried about the potential damages or complaints. OP also claimed that the house was not pet-friendly and that the service dog should always be with its owner.

The friend with the service dog felt hurt and excluded from the group, and accused OP of controlling. The other friends were also split on the issue, and some of them supported the friend with the service dog. The story was posted on the subreddit “r/AmItheA$$hole” by OP to know if what they did was wrong or not.

2. OP along with his 14 friends rented a Vbro for a trip. The cost was going to be split but initially covered through OP’s card.

4. The friends had some activities planned where taking the dog wouldn’t make sense or be right. The friend sugggested their dog could stay at home.

5. OP was going to be held responsible if the dog did any damage to the house….and the friend couldn’t be left alone without her service dog either.

6. This let to a major argument between OP and that friend as OP told her she would be excluded from the trip.

7. After being called an AH for this, OP took the matter to the AITA community.

I think OP did the right thing here and I will declare him NTA. The reason is that the rent was going to be paid initially from OP’s card so if the dog did any damage to the property, OP would have to pay it and the other friends may not pay that extra amount because no one was responsible for that dog except the friend who needed it.

The other thing is, the woman has a service dog with her for a reason. The two must stay together at all times. Leaving the dog at the house would defeat the whole purpose of having a service dog.

8. The way this woman wanted to leave her service dog at home makes me wonder if she actually needs one.
