Have you ever witnessed a dog so smart who would end up reporting himself missing?
We bet you haven’t! A lot of us already know that dogs are well-known for their great intelligence level and it would be fair to say that our pets are truly some of the smartest and most intelligent creatures out there. As a matter of fact, nowadays during the pandemic, dogs are being used to detect the virus! It’s unbelievable how smart they are! But it’s not like we don’t have silly puppers as well who are just not that smart enough but it just depends.
In this story, you will come to know that some doggos are smarter than others though. The story is about a dog who got separated from his hooman and realized that he’s gonna have to take the matter into his own paws and do something about it! So, he decided to stroll along to the Texan Police Department to report himself missing! The dog is known by the name of Chico, and he is one of the smartest puppers and would go to any lengths to be reunited with his hooman!

1. Let’s start with a picture of Chico!
Meet Chico: he tried to report himself missing after losing his hooman. The officers on duty at the Odessa Police Department in Texas were surprised to see Chico walking in and standing up at the counter. He was very polite and tried his best to communicate the issue he was facing. His hooman was clearly missing and he wanted to locate him so they could be reunited. Sergeant Rusty Martin, who was there when Chico came in agrees with the other officers, that the doggo brightened up their dull day!

The officers on duty gave Chico all the love and care that they could to make him feel special! Sergeant Martin added that Chico received: “lots of love and attention”. “We were all excited to have him in the building”. They played Fetch with him for a while, and made sure they kept him entertained, while transforming their own day as well! Since Chico’s ID tag had fallen off his collar, it proved a little difficult to locate his owner. The animal control department was asked to check for a microchip so they could safely return the dog back to his home safe and sound.
4. What a responsible doggo
Chico got a bit impatient and waltzed out of the police station before animal control could come in. Through sheer luck and the dog’s intelligence, he headed straight back to his own home and was reported back by his hooman family the next day!
Sergeant Martin said: ”He ran out just as quick as he came in.” “The owner responded the next day [to say that] it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”
5. And of course, everyone loved him!
The incident gained traction on Facebook and many people commented to share their own love for Chico and comment on the entire situation! Safe to say, there was nothing but positivity from everyone involved!
