Man Gets Mad At Company For Changing A $40,000 Salary Deal Into An $8/Hour Job Contract

This disaster discouraged this person heavily.

Being a breadwinner in today’s time is not an easy job at all and stereotypically being the male in character in the family, you are automatically considered to take on this responsibility. After spending so many years taking high-quality education to get a degree in a specialized field, you expect to get a job and get paid high to meet the exhaustive efforts you made to start your challenging and stressful career (no career is easy). But given how competitive the corporate world is, it is so not easy to land a job as a fresh graduate. Organizations are always on the lookout for individuals with experience. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any organizations that don’t hire fresh graduates. They do exist. Suppose you have an engineering degree, you will find places that accept fresh graduates at an acceptable pa. And no one would want to go anywhere that pays less than that acceptable pay.

It is clear that an employee will not apply to companies that underpay. But what if someone connects with a company that pays you well but right at the time of the interview, they switch up the entire pay policy and drop your salary drastically down, what is supposed to be done then? This is something that happened with Reddit user WaterFidec who got called for an interview by a company that mentioned clearly that they would pay $40,000 a year for the credential OP has but at the interview table when the topic of salary came up, the interviewers mentioned they will be paying OP $8/hour. The job also turned into a contract-based job and the company was probably going to close its doors on him after the project ended.

Scroll down below to read this frustrated and disappointed man’s story to know how terrible the corporate world can be.

1. Whoever is about to enter the job world may feel a bit demotivated after this one.

Don’t worry, we are in this together.

2. So the whole thing about a $40,000 yearly salary was a drama to attract employees into a contract-based trap.

3. Clearly OP got led into an interview with false information and that is not nice.

4. OP couldn’t stand the disgraceful rate the company was offering and decided to question their ways in a very rational and logical way.

5. The older guy got stopped right in his tracks by OP as he started a story about his struggles.

6. This was expected.

7. This is so sad. A family that wants to have kids won’t be having kids due to a cruel corporate world.

8. You can tell how disappointed OP sounds.

9. There’s just way too much pressure on these guys to even think about themselves.

10. After spending so many years and money on a degree, this man is forced to think about working at a fast food chain instead of working in his field because the food company pays a better hourly rate.

This is so sad and scary at the same time. If I think of my situation, there’s only 1 semester left till I complete my degree and start looking for jobs. After reading for happened with OP who holds an engineering degree and also has some experience under his belt, my degree in finance with no experience won’t even get me $8 per hour. This is terrible. But I honestly feel like OP shouldn’t give up and keep searching for jobs because there are companies that honor and respect effort.

Hopefully, OP will land a satisfying job that will help him come with his financial matters.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:

11. This shows that the organization was just a fraud and there are companies out there that pay well to engineering degree holders.

12. OP needs to be more active in terms of research and I am sure he will find better opportunities.

13. Fresh out of college is $60 and OP was happy to work with $40K.

14. LinkedIn is most certainly the way to go about it.

15. You are bound to land a great job with the degree you have, OP.

16. The market has gone crazy and is confusing people.
