Redditor Builds A 6-Foot Fence To Protect Her Property & Dog From Her Neighbor, Gets Berated For It

It’s everyone’s right to be able to create and cultivate a safe and comfortable home environment for themselves. We should have the freedom to secure our property in whatever way we find necessary, as long as it doesn’t cause harm to others. Well, one woman just learned that some people have issues with that as well. She shared her situation with the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) Reddit community, detailing how there were problems when she planned to build to a 6-foot fence to secure her property and protect her dog. This is where OP’s elderly neighbors, and their 64 year old mentally disabled son come in and begin making her life hell. Keep on reading to find out what happens next:

#1) Is OP in the wrong for installing a big fence in her house? Let’s find out.

#2) OP recently moved into an un-fenced house and wanted to install six feet ones ASAP. Her elderly neighbors complained and OP offered a compromise.

#4) Edward also admitted looking into OP’s windows which made her uncomfortable, making her go to the 6 foot fence deal which caused big reactions from the family.

#5) The city’s sheriff came to check up on OP’s situation and told her that the city appreciates her. OP understands that people don’t like change but she did what she had to do.

I think we can all agree that this is a rather weird situation. OP has every right to alter her property and as a single woman living alone, her fear and discomfort are absolutely understandable. Then again, how are the old neighbors faring? Harassment cannot be excused, no matter who does it. I’m glad that in the end OP at least got to make the fence as big as she requires, for her own safety and her dog’s. Scroll down below to see what Reddit users said about the story:
