Despite the wonderful nature of children, some people prefer not having any. Everyone has their own reasons for opting out of parenthood. For some, the idea of being responsible for a child is very unappealing. Others may fear they’ll fail at parenting or may simply lack the desire for taking on that kind of responsibility on themselves. For the OP in today’s Reddit AITA story, his desire to be childfree was made clear before he tied the knot with his wife. He already has pets and does not want kids and she was on the same page. OP’s decision to embrace parenthood through dog-rearing may have been a welcome one, but the way he dismissed his wife’s desires for having a child together was not respectful. It can be tough when you believe you have an understanding with your partner on such a major life choice, only to find they’ve changed their mind.
