When someone treats you with a nice present, it means they care for you because no one would do such a thing for any other reason. And if they are being so generous to you, I think it is your responsibility to respect any instructions they give you or request you to do or don’t do something specific with regard to that present. Say, someone gifts a person they care for an all-expense-paid vacation. It’s a huge thing and definitely not something that’s cheap in monetary terms. Now if your Santa tells you some specific things you shouldn’t do on that trip, you have to abide by that because come on, you got an entirely free vacation to enjoy, it wouldn’t hurt to deal with some rules…right?
Unfortunately, in today’s story, the instructions were very clearly communicated but weren’t followed at all. Reddit user u/Rich_Butterscotch850 shared in the infamous subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?” about a story that truly had their chance plans instantly. OP and her husband decided to go on a vacation and she invited her SIL and her husband as well. They just had to come on board as everything would be paid for by OP and her husband. There was only one condition, the SIL was told not to bring her dog with her as pets are not allowed. But her SIL still chose to bring her dog on the vacation and that truly angered OP.
OP and her husband were super shocked and they decided to leave the SIL and her husband stranded at the hotel they were all originally going to stay at and booked another hotel to stay at. The SIL called OP an AH and got concerned about how will she pay the bills.

1. OP booked a nice week-long vacation for herself, her husband, her SIL, and SIL’s husband as well.
2. OP’s SIL has a dog and she made it very clear that the place they will be staying at is not dog friendly so she should avoid bringing it with her on the vacation.
3. OP and her husband flew to the destination and SIL and her husband decided to take a drive there.
4. And that is why they drove and didn’t fly with OP, so they could bring Brute (SIL’s dog) to the vacation as well.
5. SIL kept making excuses about why she brought Brute with her.
6. And this really infuriated OP and her husband.
7. OP decided to leave immediately and explained the whole situation to the homeowner about why she and her husband were not going to stay at her space anymore.
8. The AIrBnB woman appreciated OP’s honesty and told them they could stay if they wanted to.
9. But OP and her husband decided to stay at some other hotel.
10. The SIL was super angry for being ditched and had no idea to survive on her own with her husband. OP ignored all the sh*t that got given to her by SIL.
11. The people who did not listen are now stranded outside an AirBnB retreat without any money.
I seriously don’t understand why SIL would do exactly the opposite of what she got told to do. I do not enjoy the company of such people. Surely, she will learn to understand that things cannot always work the way she wants them to. She clearly tried to ruin OP’s vacation and by leaving, I believe OP did the right thing.
