Periods are a normal part of life.
Lots of people get periods and it shouldn’t be considered taboo in any way. I understand that people feel weird talking about it but if we can talk about other bodily functions without shame, this shouldn’t be considered weird either. And it is important to make teenagers feel comfortable enough because they need to know that there is nothing to be embarrassed about. The worst way to do this would be to get angry with them if they use your hygiene products without permission.
But that is exactly what happened in this particular instance. This woman caused a whole fuss because her stepdaughter used her pads without asking first. While asking first would have been ideal, it is the first time she has gotten her periods so it is normal to feel a bit embarrassed. However, rather than assuring her, she only got yelled at and it was simply disgusting behavior. You can see what I am talking about by scrolling below and taking a look for yourself.

She says that she doesn’t act like a parent because there is not a big age gap between them.
So this all started when the teen got her first period and didn’t tell her.
Then we get some information about her shopping habits.
Rather than simply asking and assuring her that nothing was wrong, this is how it went.
Not only that but she blew it out of proportion and even called in her husband.
Was it really all about the money at the end of the day?
I understand not wanting to share with people but this isn’t the way.
She says she isn’t self-centered but this entire is all about her feelings and she doesn’t once mention her step-daughter must be feeling. I am well aware that periods can cause havoc when it comes to emotions but that is not an excuse to act like this. Rather than making her feel okay and simply asking her what she would need for the future, she caused her embarrassment. I was a teenager once and when I got mine, I was scared and embarrassed and if someone had treated me this way, I would have ended up crying.
She really should start acting like one.
