Woman Lies To Her Roommates After Getting Rejected By A Friend

roommate-situation

It is never easy to be rejected.

Anyone who has been in a relationship understands the agony of a breakup. Even if you initiated it, it can be extremely painful, especially if you have been with that person for a long time. However, rejection can be more painful than a breakup in some cases. After all, it means you never had the opportunity to try something new in the first place. It takes a lot of courage to have feelings for someone and then ask them out. However, being rejected after that can be both heartbreaking and humiliating.

However, just because you have feelings for someone and believe you would be a good match for them does not imply that they are obligated to reciprocate those feelings. It may appear harsh, but it is the reality of the world. So, no matter how much it hurts, the other person has the right to reject you. That doesn’t mean it’s okay for them to trample on your feelings, but from what we can tell, that’s not what happened here. The poster of this story was polite and straightforward about the rejection.

Behind all of the drama, it is just about a broken heart.

But first we need to understand her living situation.

We also get to know that these two have a little bit more income than their other roommates.

OP is also part of the LGBTQ+ community which we need to know for context.

Her room is in the basement where everyone also does their laundry.

The whole layout of the house is explained clearly in the story.

But now we get into the real meat of the story.

This is when Mary popped the question.

However, it was completely out of the blue for OP and she respectfully rejected her roommate.

Things seemed fine afterwards until her other roommates mentioned the rejection.

Apparently, Mary had been spreading lies about OP behind her back.

Other than Jon, everyone else has taken Mary’s side.

Mary has also been putting a lot of words in other people’s mouths.

The sad thing is that everyone believes her.

So now, OP doesn’t know what to do about this fiasco.

To me, it appears that the flatmate is insecure about herself and putting it on OP. I have no doubt that she was hurt, but it was not the OP’s fault. While it is true that some people enjoy seeing things where none exist, it is also none of OP’s business. The flatmate claims that OP was leading her on, but OP never even saw her in that way. To me, it appears that OP was friendly towards her and this gave the flatmate the wrong impression. What she is doing now, however, by spreading rumours, is not going to help anyone.

People in the comments had good advice to give.

And while she has tried holding a roommate meeting, not everyone responded.

The only way to solve this may be by confronting Mary head-on.
