Employee Gets Upset After A Coworker Insulted Her And It Appeared On A Shared Screen During A Meeting

Employee Meeting

Certain workplaces can be quite toxic.

I’m sure we’ve all heard horrific stories about toxic managers and coworkers. However, it is usually the higher-ups who create a toxic environment and believe they can get away with it. Individuals in positions of power frequently believe they can act rudely without fear of repercussions. This sense of entitlement can create toxic work environments and impede effective communication and collaboration. It is critical to address and challenge this behaviour in order to foster a more respectful and inclusive workplace environment.

However, even the smallest things can irritate some people. For example, if you ask them a work-related question, they will become irritated or insult you. Just because someone is trying to understand something and asking questions does not imply they are being annoying. It’s similar to some teachers we’ve all had the pleasure of working with who despise it when you ask too many questions and will reprimand you if you do. That is similar to the events in the following story.

You’ll understand what I’m talking about once you scroll down to read the entire story.

OP was insulted by one of her co-workers, and it was caught on screen while they were in a meeting.

OP was in a long meeting that was supposed to talk about a new update to software, and since OP hadn’t used it for a long time, she understandably had a lot of questions.

This meeting included OP, her whole department, and a few other people from the other department, including Adam and Susan.

OP had asked Adam a question while he was sharing his screen, and that is when he got a message.

The message in question was from Susan, and she called out the OP indirectly, saying that she was being annoying.

OP was obviously put off by this and decided to talk to her co-workers after the meeting was finished.

OP concluded with her co-workers afterwards, and they all reached out to the manager, which resulted in his demanding an apology from Susan and Adam.

OP did get her well-deserved apology, and she will apparently get it in person as well.

Even though the original poster (OP) posted this story in petty revenge, I don’t think this is revenge. I understand Susan will have to deal with the consequences of her actions, but this will not be directly caused by the OP. That is not to say that it isn’t satisfying to see people caught on camera and then forced to apologise.

I’m surprised Susan thought OP was annoying simply because she asked a few questions. I thought meetings were supposed to be used for this. However, it appears that Susan disagrees with this assessment.

People in the comments were quite surprised by the turn of events.

Making them squirm while they apologise would be really funny.

OP has to make sure she is careful as to how she conducts herself during this apology.

I thought asking questions was a good thing, and don’t most people appreciate this?

I have to agree that this doesn’t really sound like revenge to me.

Asking questions means you are engaged in the subject matter, and that is what people should want.

I think this is it.

To be fair, it is rare to see managers actually have your back.

There isn’t much more OP can ask for at this point.

This is why you make sure everything is closed when you start sharing your screen.

This is not at all professional and sounds like high school drama to me.

Assertive communication is a very good trait for anyone.
