Daughter Refuses To Drive Two Hours Every Day To Check On Her Parent’s Cat While They Are On Vacation

Pets are a wonderful addition to any household but they come with responsibilities, including the need to care for them on a daily basis.

If you are owning a pet, you cannot expect others to take care of them especially expecting someone to drive two hours every day in winter to check on your pet. That’s an unreasonable demand. This is the dilemma facing a Redditor who shared that her parents are going to Mexico for vacation. OP and her mother planned that their cat would stay at OP’s home. OP’s parents’ cat does not get well along with OP’s dog but OP’s dog is very friendly. They planned that the cat would stay in the basement and she would adjust easily.

OP’s father was not happy with their plan and wanted her to drive two hours every day to check on their cat. OP doesn’t like driving in the winter so she refused to drive every day to check on their cat. But is her refusal justified? Scroll down to know.

OP asks the Reddit community if he is TAH for not checking on his parent’s cat:

It is understandable that the OP may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of making such a long daily commute. Depending on their work schedule and other commitments, this could cause significant disruption to their daily routine and impact their mental and physical health. Furthermore, it’s important to consider the needs of the cat.

OP’s parents should consider hiring a sitter or someone who lives closer and can check on their pet. It is not reasonable for someone to drive every day to check someone’s pet. While it may not be feasible for the Redditor to drive two hours every day to check on their parent’s cat, it’s important to find a solution that ensures the cat’s well-being without causing undue stress or inconvenience.
