About a decade ago, during the most challenging months of OP’s life, they lost their family home due to their mother’s gambling addiction and were graciously taken in by a family friend.
Initially, things seemed positive for OP as they were welcomed by the EP family, including an understanding EK of their age, who generously offered shelter and even secured a volunteer job for OP at a bingo hall.
Despite OP’s repeated insistence that they didn’t have romantic feelings for EK, EP remained fixated on the idea of them being a couple, which culminated in uncomfortable and intrusive comments:
While walking down the hallway, EK unexpectedly slapped OP’s buttocks, leading to a heated confrontation, but when OP reported the incident to their mom, she downplayed it:
The situation worsened as EK consistently made inappropriate advances and comments towards OP, and despite repeated complaints, his behavior was dismissed by his parents, while OP’s own mother also ignored the issue:
One day, EK crossed a boundary by touching OP inappropriately, OP became fearful and avoided being alone with him, often staying at school late or retreating to their locked room at home:
Several months later, OP is coerced into being EK’s prom date, facing pressure from EP’s who offer to cover expenses, guilt-trip, and even involve OP’s mom:
After refusing to attend EK’s prom, EP’s introduce new rules including financial contributions, pushing OP and their mom to find their own place.
They moved to a new place but OP’s mom blamed her for the entire thing:
OP’s decision to stand up against the mistreatment and inappropriate behavior from EK and EP’s was a valid response to protect their well-being and personal boundaries. It’s important for individuals to prioritize their safety and emotional health, especially in challenging situations.
After graduating, OP finds their belongings on the curb after their mom and EP’s abandon them. They spend months couchsurfing and working to save up for an apartment, eventually cutting ties with their mom and EP’s.
