Woman Leaves Wedding To Eat McDonald’s After Knowing That Bride Is Charging For The Food

It is very important that you treat your guests well and wholeheartedly, especially when you have invited them. You are not supposed to make them feel like they are not supposed to be around you, they should always feel at home. If they do, they know you are a good person and they will definitely pay their gratitude for the good treatment. But when you mistreat your guests with unwelcomed surprises, you cannot expect them to sustain the good feelings they previously had for you.

In today’s story, we have a woman who was going to get married and had invited many people from her social circle, including one of her colleagues. The colleague, who is the OP, got super excited upon knowing about the soon-to-be bride’s wedding. When OP got the invitation, she asked if there were going to be any guest fees that needs to be paid and she got told there isn’t any. On the wedding day, everything went smoothly until it was time for dinner. That’s when all the wedding guests got handed many cards with all the food items listed on them along with their prices. Yes, the guests would have to pay to have the dinner.

This was not liked by OP as she felt lied to by the bride and she didn’t have the money to eat the expensive meal at the wedding either. The matter resulted in OP confronting the bride and the two going off at each other. Ultimately OP left the wedding and went to a McDonald’s nearby to have an affordable, delicious meal instead.

3. So there was no guest fee according to the bride but when the time came for dinner, everyone was handed a menu with prices written in front of all the food items.

4. OP wanted to confront the bride there and then but decided not to because, after all, it was her big day.

5. OP had made all preparations to basically have a feast at the wedding but now she couldn’t eat anything because she didn’t have enough money to both eat and return home.

6. OP then remembered there was a McDonald’s nearby that she could make a quick stop at and return back to the wedding before the gift ceremony and the cake.

8. Oh wow, apparently it’s OP’s fault she didn’t bring cash to a wedding she didn’t know she’d have to pay to eat the food at.

Okay, we don’t know yet how this all ends but I am going to declare the bride a major AH there and OP NTA. And even before that, I swear I have never ever been to a wedding where the host charges the guests for the food. Who does that? This is the most terrible wedding one could be at. You get invited which means you are honorary in the heart of the host. That definitely does not mean you have to pay to eat on their big day. If the bride decided people at the wedding will have to pay to eat, she shouldn’t have had a problem with them not wanting to eat at all at the wedding.

9. And the reaction of the bride angered OP as well.

10. The bride called OP cheap and asked her to leave. And OP did.

11. OP told her boyfriend everything that happened and he actually declared her an AH for being “stingy” to the bride.

12. And the friends didn’t show any support either.

13. Confused, OP left her fate at the hands of the AITA community members.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:

14. Neither have I. And I will never attend such a wedding either.

15. Imagine if someone paid for a full 5-course meal and the food ended up being disgusting.

16. I am sure majority guests held their emotions in because they didn’t want to ruin the bride’s day…just like OP did.
