Children are the responsibility of their parents.

In the context of family dynamics, the burden of financial responsibility can occasionally extend beyond parental obligation. When a parent cannot meet their financial obligations and relies on their child to support the family, it can create a difficult and emotionally charged situation for both the parent and the child. This can potentially strain the parent-child relationship because the child may feel overwhelmed and resentful of being forced into a role for which they are not prepared. Additionally, it can make it difficult for the child to become financially independent and develop personally because they may have trouble balancing their own needs and goals with supporting their parents.

However, the situation becomes even more complicated when it involves minors. After all, many countries do not allow underage children to work more than a certain number of hours. And, while I understand how difficult it can be to provide for a family financially, it is the parent’s responsibility to do so until their child has moved out or is able to stand on their own two feet. However, the parents in this story do not understand this simple fact and are only too happy to place all of the responsibility on their children without considering the long-term consequences of their actions. Furthermore, they are willing to steal money from their own children.

Stealing is never a good thing.

And the title makes it pretty clear who the bad guy is in this situation.

However, there is a lot more happening under the surface.

It all started with a cat and OP wanting one.

He was quite responsible with his finances until his parents stole from him.

He was clearly in a bind now, as his cat was quite sick.

So he decided to give his parents the taste of their own medicine.

He stole his parent’s credit card and got his cat treated.

His parents were obviously quite angry when they found out.

However, OP didn’t really have any other option.

And now he is on Reddit asking whether he did the right thing.

The actions of the parents in this situation are quite concerning. The simple truth is that they should not have a child in the first place if they are unable to care for their existing children. Furthermore, it is not as if the OP has been avoiding his responsibilities when it comes to caring for the cat. He has been responsible and attentive to his cat’s needs.

However, they not only forced him to work three jobs to help pay the bills, but they also stole his money. So, while I would never condone stealing from your family, he only did what was done to him. And if my cat became ill, I doubt I would make a different decision.

People in the comments were quite worried about how his parents are treating him.

And how many jobs he has to undertake.

His parents should really be ashamed.

This is the most important question here.

It is the parent’s responsibility to take care of their children.

Not only that but it is also illegal in many countries to work for so many hours as a minor.

I can only hope he gets out of there.

As it turns out, it is definitely not legal.

OP and the cat need to get out of there, as his parents clearly don’t care for him.
