We don’t always get along with everyone in the family.
Anyone who has lived with a larger family understands how chaotic it can be. Even if it isn’t as large as some people believe, having even one sibling can lead to fights. After all, when you’re young, you want everyone to know your thoughts on things, whether they agree with you or not. Teens frequently believe they are the only ones who are correct, and they fail to see the bigger picture. However, it is neither surprising nor significant. After all, we all change over time, so why not let teenagers stay young for a little longer?
That doesn’t mean you can carry your selfish teenage personality into adulthood. I’m sure we’ve all met those tyrants who believe that hating on everyone is a personality trait. And they claim that they hate everyone equally, so they aren’t truly hateful because it is all a joke at the end of the day. However, I believe that many people are simply trying to hide their hatred by portraying it as a joke. However, it only reveals their true feelings. And they want to appear special, and they believe that this is how it works when it doesn’t. That is the type of person we will encounter in this story.

The title doesn’t show us the full picture.
But we start off with getting some information about his brother and how he sees people.
Apparently, he can’t hold his tongue and likes to spout off nonsense.
That is why it isn’t surprising that OP doesn’t want his girlfriend to meet his brother.
And the woman doesn’t want to meet Dan either so it is a win-win situation.
However, his family is not fully on board with this idea.
That is why he decided to ask Reddit whether he was doing the right thing or not.
It might look childish but is it really?
I don’t believe the OP is in the wrong. He simply wants to protect his girlfriend from such behaviour. And it’s not like she’s begging to meet his brother and he’s refusing to let her. People like these, in my experience, do not respond well to ultimatums and fare even worse if they are placed in such a situation. You’d think they’d grow out of it as they mature, but he’s already a fully grown adult, so he shouldn’t be this way at this age. It would still be unacceptable but not unforgiving if he were a teen.
People in the comments were fully on his side.
It is not surprising that his family are just a bunch of enablers.
people commended him for protecting his partner.
His father isn’t looking like a great guy either.
Sometimes you just have to put your foot down.
Dan shouldn’t get another chance from the looks of it.
This commenter summed everything up perfectly.
What are your thoughts on the subject? Do you believe the OP is being overprotective? Or do you believe it is wise to keep his girlfriend as far away from his brother as possible?
