Every bird has its own significance. Some are harmless little naive creatures and some are simply wild. The wild bird can be harmful and they certainly aren’t supposed to be kept as pets in homes. One of these wild bird’s is the osprey. The osprey is almost 11 million years old species of birds that specialize in fishing. They have toes that are specifically designed to catch the fish. They live are widely found all over the world except for the Antarctica region. Although they can survive all kinds of weather conditions, osprey likes to remain near the water as their main source of food is fish.
Ospreys use a rather fascinating technique to hunt and the sight of it is very delightful. It’s almost like watching the synchronised swimmers dancing on the water surface. Chen Chengguang a photographer based in Taiwan captured this breathtaking moment of a group of ospreys fishing. The osprey is also known as the fish hawk because they consume mostly fish. 99% of their diet consists of fish. However, they also eat rabbits, rodents, hare, birds and insects as well. The osprey has an extraordinary ability to look into the water and search for its prey from a height of 10 to 40 meters that makes a height of 33 to 131 in feet. They have rather prominent, sharp claws that help them catch their prey. They observe the movement of its target very carefully and then directly attacks it by plunging into the water and grabbing the prey.

The osprey builds a pretty huge nest and lives in it for quite a long time. Although they have a variety of different habitats, they usually build nests near the water where they can peacefully hunt fish. They hunt all sorts of fish, bug and small. Mostly they catch fish that weights around 150 grams to 300 grams and 25 centimetres to 35 centimetres in length. In some cases, the fish can also weight from 50 grams to 2 kg. Any fish that lies in between that range is easily caught by the osprey.
