As we know, “family values” is a wonderful concept in this life however, when invoked in a positive way, it’s even more wonderful. In my opinion, family values are the best – for example, a bright, warm house for the holidays, parents and children eating together at a large table, joint outings and games… the list goes on.
But how much can you stand a person who betrays you in the most vicious way, despite the close ties you share with that person? We are given the choice here to hold a grudge and cut all ties, or to do what the ancients taught us to turn the left cheek when struck on the right. Our heroine chose the first.
Today a member of Reddit’s r/AITA community posted this story a few days ago and it currently has approximately 20.4K upvotes and 3.2K different comments. Although most people support the OP, so her position should probably be considered quite reasonable. But let us see if we can figure it out for ourselves.
Things went horribly wrong for the OP seven years ago, when she was expecting a child. Around 10 weeks into the pregnancy, she suffered a miscarriage and when she returned home she caught her husband in bed with her own sister. Because of the double betrayal, the OP not only filed for divorce immediately but also severed all ties with her sister and limited contact with her parents, who tried to somehow justify her behavior.
