An example is the life of Reddit user u/goodbyemyboy, a 21-year-old guy who has a 1-year-old son, and lost his girlfriend and his other child while she was in labor. And it doesn’t stop there. He also got diagnosed with terminal cancer which only gave him 2 months to leave. All of this at such a young age is unbelievable!

OP, however, did not let his medical condition take over him as he had to secure his 1-year-old son’s future before he passed. He decided to make his aunt from his father’s side the guardian of his son, and she agreed as well. This decision involved some drama involving OP’s mother that you will be reading bout.

OP then created a lot of recordings, videos, and wrote letters for his son to view and read in the future that would allow him to be with his son on many special occasions in his life, and also to let his son know about his mother and sibling. After securing his son’s future, OP was ready to spend the remainder of his life in peace.

10. That is the thing, it is about his son and not his mother. If it were the case, surely he wouldn’t have done anything that would upset his mother.

First of all, this has made me so sad. OP is so young and he has had to face so much and now has so less time left. I really wish he gets to spend the remaining time in the best way possible with his little boy.

I would also say OP was NTA. This is all about his son. He is only a year old boy. He doesn’t know anything other than how to crawl, walk a little, and scream for food. Being sure that he will pass away within a few months, OP has to make sure his future is secured and that he is under good care. He wants to be confident that he has made the right decision about the guardian. And if making his aunt the guardian and not his mother makes him feel his child will be more secure and well taken care of, then he should definitely go for it. I am sure his mother would understand.

Here’s an update OP shared that may make you cry even more:

11. OP shared that after a few days of the heated argument he had with his mother over guardianship, the mother finally realized it would be beneficial for the child if OP’s aunt became his guardian.

12. OP’s mother already has to do a lot to make sure her other son’s life is in order…which would in turn result in his 5 kids’ lives being in order.
