In a world where relationships thrive on unique dynamics, OP found himself questioning the agreement that once seemed perfect. They decided together that his wife would stay home with their newborn, a choice made with the hope of fostering happiness. However, as time unfolded, he noticed her overwhelmed state. With workplace childcare available, they opted to enroll their daughter, expecting a shared transition back to work.
Yet, as days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, his wife never resumed working. The question lingered: when would she return? The home, now devoid of a child during the day, awaited her next move. Surprisingly, she expressed a desire to remain at home, doing nothing while her husband shouldered the family’s financial responsibilities. Amidst this unconventional arrangement, housework and “after-hours” childcare still adhered to a 50/50 split.
As tensions rise and assumptions clash, the story unfolds, prompting readers to ponder: was he wrong to expect a change in her daily routine now that their daughter spends her days elsewhere? Dive into a narrative exploring the intricacies of expectations, communication, and the evolving nature of relationships.

1. If the issue because of which you had not been working has been resolved, then you really have no excuse to avoid it anymore.
2. WHen OP and his wife had a daughter, the two mutually decided his wife would become a SAHM while he would take care of all the household expenses.
3. After a year, OP started noticing she was getting overwhelmed with all the motherhood duties so he started looking for childcare facilities and found out that his office offered one.
4. OP and his wife decided to apply and within 4 months they got a spot. They put their daughter, happily, in daycare.
5. However, now that OP’s wife was free from childcare responsibilities she still wasn’t doing anything. The house chores were also divided so there was a bare minimum at her hands.
6. OP didn’t understand the point of his wife still staying at home and doing nothing now that their daughter went to daycare…so OP asked her when she would return to working days.
7. But the wife tried to strip away from the topic, trying to change it. However, OP steered back.
8. And the yelling began. The wife didn’t take it well and the couple started arguing.
9. The wife retaliated by saying if his coworkers’ wives stay at home and do nothing then she is entitled to the same.
10. Things got deep to OP trying to make one point while his wife trying to make another. They kept going back and forth.
I think the wife is being a bit miserable here. The only reason why their daughter is in daycare is that she started getting overwhelmed with all the motherhood responsibilities. The husband, thoughtfully, decided to settle things for her by approaching the daycare option. Now, the wife has no daughter to look after. With the house chores divided as well, there is no reason for that woman to sit at home and make no money when she potentially can. I don’t care what the wives of other people do, this woman is kicking a glorious opportunity to improve the quality of her daughter’s life by working.

11. Such a crucial point raised here that I support.
12. The life his wife wanted was rotten from the inside and that is what he was trying to get through her head.
13. She would be wasting al the education she got for a life she didn’t know would take a massive toll on her.
14. After mutually agreeing on the daycare option OP thought it was understandable she would return to work automatically.
15. OP clarified she had no intention to cheat on his wife but the subject was touched upon just to let her know it is a life no one is enjoying, and neither would she.
