Relationships are not always easy to maintain.
There are a lot of components that are essential for making a healthy relationship with your partner. Love, trust, care, and loyalty and the basic needs. Both partners need to respect one another. If a problem arises, they should know how to handle it maturely. Communication is key when it comes to solving problems in relationships. There is no use in fighting or shouting. The couple must sit down and convey their problems to each other in a civilised manner and come to a mutual decision in the end. This is how real adults maturely handle situations. With love, respect, and understanding.
This Reddit user shared her experience with her husband on Reddit. It was a tit-for-tat kind of situation where the husband sold his wife’s antique tea set, which was considered as her family heirloom, to buy something he promised to his nephew. The wife was understandably very upset about this so she sold the husband’s Xbox just to buy back her antique tea set. You can read the details of the story by scrolling down below:
Both partners have been working on minimum wages.
They have been struggling financially for quite a while.
Her husband made a promise to his nephew to gift him a gaming chair if he beat cancer. Since he didn’t have the money, he sold his wife’s antique tea set without her permission.
She lashed out at him, which is understandable as it held sentimental value for her.
The husband started giving her reasons for doing so which included the fact that it was just laying around without being used.
He also offered to buy her a new tea set but she refused.
So she contacted the buyer to get her tea set back and he offered to sell it for more than its worth.
So, the woman sold her husband’s Xbox to cover the cost of the antique tea set.
When the husband found out she sold his Xbox, he got upset with her as well.
The woman gave her reasoning that it was his responsibility to get her tea set back no matter the cost.
She explained that a new tea set couldn’t compensate for the antique tea set because her grandmother gave it to her and it holds sentimental value.
The husband called her childish for doing this.
He has been blaming the woman and calling her the wrong one.
Her husband now refuses to talk to her so she asked Reddit if she was wrong for doing what she did.
Forget who is right or wrong, this couple has some serious relationship problems. They don’t have any empathy or understanding. They will need to work on a lot of things if they want this marriage to last.
This is what other Redditors said about the whole story:
Almost everyone sided with the woman.
This might have taught the husband that there are consequences to his actions.
However, some people thought that both of them were wrong.
