Mother-In-Law Gets Uninvited From The Wedding After She Cancels The Rehearsal Dinner

In-laws enjoy starting drama.

I am sure we have all read thousands of stories in which the mother-in-law arrives at the wedding in a white gown or demands something from her precious son or she withdraws her funding. I’ve always noticed that in-laws seem to think that it is their special day and thus more important than their children’s, and they love to make it all about them. Is it really that difficult to give in once in a while and make some concessions so that your children are happy? After all, a wedding is typically a once-in-a-lifetime event that signifies a new beginning.

However, it is clear that this mother-in-law did not get the memo and wanted everything done her way. While she didn’t sound as bad as some of the stories I’d read on reddit, it got worse. And the reason for this was that she did not want her ex-husband to attend. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that seeing your ex would be unpleasant for anyone if you had a bad relationship, but it isn’t that difficult to put up with it for one day for the sake of your son.

Scroll down to see how she attempted to turn the situation around in her favour.

Even from the title, I can tell which side I am going to be on.

But first, we need to get some information about the relationship.

And it seems that the mother-in-law was never as nice as she pretended to be.

Things only got worse as she started a new relationship.

When OP’s husband broached the subject of inviting his mother’s ex, she wasn’t happy.

Rather than compromising, she went ahead and cancelled the rehearsal dinner.

Why did she do it? We don’t know and she didn’t even tell anyone.

And she was distancing herself as well so OP decided to uninvite her.

Surprisingly enough, the mother-in-law was on a cruise when the wedding was happening as well.

To be honest, the mother-in-law appears to be extremely petty. I could sympathise with her if she was just upset that her ex was invited, but cancelling someone else’s rehearsal dinner is going too far. Not only that, but it’s clear she didn’t even feel bad about it. After all, she was having a good time on her vacation. The guy made it clear that he invited her ex-husband only because he treated him like a son. So, who wouldn’t want a father figure to attend their wedding? I’m just relieved she didn’t ruin their wedding.

People in the comments hoped that the woman would stay out of their lives.

And OP replied that no contact is the way things are going anyway.

It wasn’t a mistake but a thought-out decision after all.

I would have to agree with this person.

How petty can a person be?

But at least she wasn’t at the wedding.
