Mother Keeps Forcing Childfree Daughter To Name Her Child After Her Name

Life choices are something we take for ourselves. It is wrong if someone else takes our life choices. That is because if something terrible happens owing to that choice, you must take responsibility for it. If it happened because someone else took that decision for you, trust me they will never accept the fact that they took that decision for you, they will blame you for conforming.

In today’s story, Reddit user u/velocipigeon shared that she and her husband of over ten years had mutually decided to not have kids owing to the two not having a diverse genetic pool, and OP sharing some other physical issues. OP’s mother, however, did not get the mom and keeps insisting the couple have kids. She tries to convince them in all sorts of ways but OP never agrees.

One time OP’s mother managed to engage her in a conversation regarding baby names. The mother wanted OP to name her kid after her but OP told her if she ever had a child, she would name it after her grandmother. This angered the mom and the matter got taken to the courts of the subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?” by OP to know if what she did was right or not.

I really don’t understand why people get so insistent. OP has decided she doesn’t want to have kids. Maybe she would d*e if she had to deliver one. Anything could happen. She has made that decision on some basis. The mother should respect that decision. Continuously ramming someone about one thing over and over again can actually make you lose love for something. Perhaps if there was any part in OP that wanted to have kids lost all interest because the mother kept insisting.
