Reddit user u/Supersalty99 shared a story about how her mother upset her to the core of her heart. OP started off by touching upon a conversation she was having with her mom when her mom suddenly said OP’s child was her do-over. OP felt really hurt about this. The reason for getting hurt was a walk down memory lane as OP reflected on how terribly she had been treated by her mother all her life. It was only when she became an adult that her mother started focusing on her, before that OP was the responsibility of her grandmother only.
But now when it came to OP’s child, as a grandmother she began treating the baby as if it was her own kid. OP confronted her mom by clearing it out that her child was in no way her mom’s do-over. She also shared her feelings about how she expected to be treated exactly the way she had now been treating her grandchild.

3. The comment broke OP’s heart because essentially her mom never cared for her.
4. OP’s mother only started her rightful duties when she became an adult, a phase of life that has already incorporated the good or bad parenting styles.
5. After the comment, OP began noticing that her mom really had made her life all about B.
6. She would make it seem like B is her daughter, not OP’s.
7. OP confronted her mom by clearing that B was not her do-over and she expected to be treated the way she has been treating B.
I feel so bad for OP. Why do parents do this? She made sure no less effort was put in to make sure her daughter struggled through her childhood. No matter who brings you up, a mother’s love can never be matched. OP got neglected by her mother and that was wrong. What rationale does she have to treat her grandchild so prestigiously? If the mom is trying to make for the mistakes she made her with daughter, then she must stop immediately because this will not help improve her relationship with her daughter. The damage once done is done.
