Living in the city can be tough when it comes to finding places for your furry friend to stretch their legs. Busy parks and limited open spaces make it tricky to give your dog the exercise they need. Some urban pet parents get creative, taking their pups for walks or playing in small yards.

But sometimes, these solutions aren’t perfect. Neighbors might not appreciate the noise or activity, especially if it’s in their own backyard. Take Reddit user SilverHeart1990, for example. She and her husband have a lovely fenced yard where their big dog loves to romp. But lately, her father-in-law has been dropping by with his two unruly dogs without asking. This left OP’s yard a mess and her own dog stressed.

OP tried to talk to them about it, but they brushed her off, leaving her feeling ignored and frustrated. Now, she’s not sure whether to apologize for speaking up or stand firm on her boundaries. Scroll down below to read the story!

1. Backyard as a dog park? Let’s find out!

2. OP and her husband have a large fenced backyard and their dog loves roaming around and playing in it.

3. Because OP’s in-laws only live 10 minutes away, her FIL would often come along with his 2 dogs and would leave the two in the same backyard before entering the house from their backdoor.

4. Both dogs are not trained and they make the yard a mess while playing. They also get mud all over OP’s dog who feels uncomfortable with it.

5. That is what happens when you don’t train your dogs. Thry cannot be trusted in public spaces.

6. One time OP came home from work and started crying after seeing her dog covered in mud. The FIL’s dogs were there and she knew it was their doing.

7. The couple had set plans in advance to clean the house as some guests were coming to stay. But all that time went into cleaning their dog; that is how dirty shs got.

8. OP finally decided to confront her in-lawd about this.

I think OP’s stances is very clear and she should remain firm. There is a fence around her backyard for a reason. No one can just bust their dog in based on an assumption that the owner won’t mind. Besides, it is not OP’s fault her in-laws didn’t train their dogs. She should pursue her case. The dogs shouldn’t be allowed in her yard. It is also unfair to the trained cutiepie they have who loves to play in “her own” yard.

9. They ignored OP’s text and chose to lash out on her husband about it on theit next meeting.

10. In-laws refusing to respond to OP is only putting a big strain on their relationship.

11. OP is confused as to whether she should apologize or remain firm on her stance. The matter was taken to the courts of the AITA community.
