I really don’t know how sign language was created or who invented it, but it is a really helpful method of communication for deaf people. It basically gives them a voice, they don’t feel disabled anymore. A great tool and I really want sign language to be introduced in every single language out there so deaf people can communicate in their local language and the adoption can be easy as well.
In today’s story, we have Reddit user u/SignKitchen who has a deaf wife and he has learned sign language so he can communicate with his wife easily and swiftly. One day the couple was out at a liq*our store to get a bottle of scotch to celebrate something. While they were waiting for the manager to get their bottle, a group of 6 old people walked into the store. Their leader walked straight up to OP while he was signing to his wife to communicate. The leader came up to OP and demanded a drink. Confused, he responded by saying he did not work at the store. The old man said he was gesturing to the woman standing next to him so he obviously is the manager.
OP then cleared it to the guy that the woman standing next to him is his wife who is deaf so he was using sign language to communicate with her. The old guy had nothing else to say and left with his gang.

5. RL said nothing but the name of a drink to OP’s face.

6. Confused to his core, OP asked what the Ring Leader was talking about.

7. He then asked for the drink again and OP then told him did not work for the store. The Ring Leader had assumed OP was a worker at the store because he was gesturing at his wife.

8. OP then told the Ring Leader he was using sign language to communicate with his deaf wife. Not knowing how to react to this, the Ring Leader left the store with his gang.

This was such a confusing conversation between the Ring Leader and OP. Like what made the RIng Leader think OP worked at the store? The gesturing? Seriously? I mean I can only laugh at this guy’s logic.
Also, the rudeness. Wow! I couldn’t believe the way just ordered OP around as if he owned him. Not even a “Hello, sir” or an “Excuse me?”. He just named a drink and assumed it will brought to him. That was rude, dude!
9. Just before leaving, the last couple stopped and signed an apology to OP and his wife. One of them was an educator for deaf people.
