Mom Brings Receipts When Neighbour Complains About Things Being Unfair

Children are not always truthful.

You’d think this would be obvious, but many parents like to imagine their child as an angel who can do no wrong. Now, I’m not saying you should always be suspicious of your children, but it’s important not to believe them outright, especially if a lot of people say they did something wrong. This is not true for entitled parents. Because they believe they can do no wrong, they treat their children the same way, and the cycle continues, producing more and more entitled people.

However, not everyone is a lost cause, and there will be instances where a parent realises their error. That is exactly what is happening in this story. When it came to the bake sale, the poster of this story was assisting her and the neighbour’s child. She not only baked cookies, but she also made lemonade. It was supposed to be a bit of fun, but things quickly turned sour when the neighbour’s kid bailed and didn’t contribute anything. You’d think that would be the end of it, but then the kid’s mother stormed out, demanding money.

The title says it all. The neighbour wanted things fair so that is exactly what she got.

But before that, we need to understand how things turned sour in the first place.

Things were going well at the stand until the neighbour’s kid decided to leave.

OP’s kid had to do everything afterwards but things didn’t end there as the neighbour was at the door soon after demanding money.

However, the woman was intentionally misconstruing everything.

So OP decides to give her a taste of her own medicine.

It turns into a full math session with everything being added.

And as it turns out the neighbours are the ones who owed OP.

I understand being angry when it comes to money, but is this really a good way to deal with anything? It’s not like OP and her child cheated them or anything. It was supposed to be harmless entertainment, not what she made it out to be. Many people would have just gone along with it to keep the peace, but I am glad the OP did not. Bringing out her receipt was a brilliant idea that clearly surprised the woman. I’m sure she wasn’t expecting that. The last cookie offer only added salt to the wound. That was truly delectable.
