Children are oblivious to danger.
Most children are fearless. I’m sure we all remember going on scary rides or jumping around as kids. Whether it’s because we didn’t know any better or because a child heals much faster than an adult, there’s no denying that children are hurt far more frequently than adults. And the majority of the time, it is the children’s fault. It is usually because they were either not paying attention or bit off more than they could chew. Accidents do happen, and there is nothing wrong with having a little fun. Although I would argue that it is the parent’s responsibility to keep an eye on their child.
As previously stated, children’s minds aren’t fully developed, which means they don’t necessarily understand everything, and as a result, they will play a round in the middle of the road if an adult does not intervene. That is why it is sometimes the parents’ fault when their child is injured. The same could be said for the following story. The poster of this story, you see, moved into a new house with their partner and discovered that they have a family with children as neighbours. Except for the fact that they didn’t want the kids playing in the driveway, they were fine with the kids. So OP repeatedly warned his neighbours to keep their children away, but they ignored him. I’m sure you can guess where this is going.

There is more to the story than meets the eye.
And all of it has to do with how the kids got hurt in the first place.
It started with OP and his partner moving into a new house.
OP was quick to warn his neighbours about the dangers of letting their kids play in his driveway.

However, they weren’t listening at all and continued doing it.
The neighbours kept mentioning that the previous owners let them do it so it’s not an issue.
OP thought that was the end of it until he found the kids in the driveway again.
That is when things took a dangerous turn.
One of the kids got hurt and had to be taken to a hospital.

OP and his partner are in a bit of a pickle regarding this.
They obviously don’t want to pay and are thus finding legal ways to fight this.
The neighbours have also been warned once again so there is that.
The neighbour is not in the right here. I mean, it’s not like OP hadn’t already warned them several times. And the fact that the previous owners used to let the kids play on their property is irrelevant. Those were the previous owners, and the new one is OP. I honestly don’t understand how some people dare to do things like this. Were the neighbours surprised that the children were injured? And how is it the fault of the OP? I’m not saying I don’t feel bad for the kids because they were just innocent bystanders who got caught up in the mess, but it’s all their parents’ fault. I can only hope that the OP does not have to pay the bills legally, because that would be a shame.

I am going to have to agree with this person.
It was clearly a failure on the parent’s side.
