Mother Wants To Fire Babysitter For Letting Her Kids Stay Up Late, Gets Schooled

Kids up late

Reddit user u/FireRise12 shared that she and her husband had a babysitter hired who would come three times a week for the days their work schedules would clash and once a month when they would go on a date night. When that sitter had to go to college, OP then hired a new one who she really liked and was really satisfied with her work.

However, one day OP received a call from her oldest child’s school saying he had been falling asleep all day. The son revealed he had stayed up late the last night watching a show with the sitter. OP had set very clear boundaries for her 3 kids’ bedtime which was at 9 p.m. and the sitter was made well aware of it but still, she allowed the oldest to stay up till 11 p.m.

OP didn’t like this at all and discussed with her husband she was planning to fire the sitter for this. Scroll down below to read the story!

1. That depends on so many things so let’s jump in and find out.

7. When OP asked the sitter why it happened, she said it was an accident as the two kept watching the show and it got late.

It was a TV show that the child and the sitter got too into that resulted in them staying up late. This means that the kid was enjoying the show. This event could have been disregarded by the mom.

Also, bedtime boundaries are something I have never been in favor of. The more you add boundaries, the more the child will want to push them. OP must keep this in account moving forward. At a point when the kids start enjoying staying up late, they will not like going to bed at 9 p.m.

8. OP got really upset because she had set the rules about bedtime very clearly and still they didn’t get followed.

9. OP told her husband she was considering firing the babysitter because of this.

15. Parents, at times, have to adjust as per the kids because they are the ones who always push the boundaries set for them.
