I think OP is overcomplicating this for no reason. He agreed with what Isaac asked for his birthday, a simple outing with his best buddies. Actually, OP seemed excited about it too. I have no idea what this mischievous wife is up to. Her daughters’ birthdays can wait for the kiddy playplace outing. This is Isaac’s birthday we are talking about and the party should be as per his liking.

12. One day when Erica left for work, OP sat Isaac down and asked him what his stepmother was like to him in his absence.
