Employee Kept Turning Up Late To Work Until His Manager Talked To Him

on-time-featured

Being punctual is not always easy.

Many people despise getting up early. And there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. Although it may be considered healthy to sleep and wake up early, some people, including myself, get some of our best work done late at night when all of our creative juices are flowing. However, regardless of the reasons, tardiness to school or work is not an excuse. Everyone is late at times, but being late on a regular basis is not something you should do. It’s also not something to be proud of.

However, this individual is unaware of this simple fact. They believe their coworkers should accommodate their schedule. The poster of this story, you see, is always late for work. Rather than changing their shift to the afternoon or working on their tardiness, they decided to speak with their manager and request an extra hour of leeway. I’m surprised at how far they’re willing to go just to keep their tardiness. As you might expect, the commenters were taken aback by this as well.

Just by the title, you can guess what kind of person this is.

But before making a hasty judgement, we need to hear their side of the story.

They talked it out with their manager to get an extra hour and it worked out for them.

OP is the only one who works a nine-hour shift.

But things changed when the new manager came.

OP is currently working two jobs as well.

But they are hesitant to ask for the extra hour when it comes to the new manager.

I’m not sure why they’re always late. I could understand if they had a legitimate reason. However, it just sounds like laziness to me. They are also causing problems for their coworkers. Because no one has said anything to them, they believe they can keep doing it. Now that I understand that work isn’t everything and that no one should have to work themselves to the bone just to get paid, this is also unacceptable behaviour.

It is not old-fashioned at all, in my opinion.

They might be a hard-working employee.

It’s really not as hard as OP is making it out to be.

OP might have a reason for this but because we don’t know, we can only judge what we do know.

And it just seems like plain old laziness to me.

It is quite disrespectful to co-workers who come on time.

I wouldn’t go as far as that but who knows?

If they keep going like this, getting fired might be in their future.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think it’s acceptable to be late every day? Or do you believe they are simply taking advantage of their position?
