Working jobs, our descriptions, and job titles are defined very clearly when we get hired. Being tasked to do something beyond the job description Is something every worker wants to stay away from unless there is an attractive incentive there for you to get out of it. There is another exception. If the worker gets asked politely, they may do it but still, doing the task or not is entirely at the worker’s discretion. Forcing will never be an option.
This Reddit user was faced with a similar situation. OP who works as a swim instructor at a beach was teaching some students when he noticed a woman yelling at his office. He completed the class and went to the lady to ask if she wanted something. The entitled lady said she wanted some stuff moved out of the way that belonged to a family so she could take that spot. OP told her that firstly it wasn’t his domain and secondly he will not help her move a stranger’s stuff. A straight-up rejection.

3. One day a woman, during the rush period, appeared at OP’s office.
4. OP was winding up a class he had been taking so he was a bit away from the office and couldn’t hear the woman…but he did notice her.
5. OP finally arrived at the office and asked the woman if he could help her. He started off with a tantrum for being made to wait.
6. OP explained to her why there was a delay in him attending to her but she didn’t care.
7. That is lowkey a fine way of letting her know his domains and at the same time where he doesn’t operate.

She should’ve come early if she wanted a spot according to her own preferences. She came late, the good spots are now covered, and her entitled butt wants the stuff of people already there to be moved away so she can put her own stuff there and do whatever she wants to do at the beach.

14. OP refused to help her move the stuff.
15. The lady went away and returned a couple of minutes with a pile of who-knows-what which she threw at OP’s office’s door.
16. It was that family’s stuff. She had moved it away and thrown it outside OP’s office and had taken the spot she wanted.
17. OP guarded the stuff hoping the family would soon come to his office.
18. OP kept the family’s stuff under his possession, as the surf slack’s responsibility.
19. THe family returned after 10 minutes and OP explained to them everything that had happened.
20. The dad confronted the woman who had stolen the family’s spot, OP couldn’t hear what he said but their expressions didn’t look friendly. They thanked OP for protecting their stuff and left.
