Guy Gets Annoyed With Parents Who Bring Their Kid To Affluent Neighborhoods On Halloween

Affluent Neighborhood

Halloween is a time for spooky fun, dressing up, and getting lots of candy. But what if some people think that you don’t deserve to enjoy the holiday because of where you live? That’s what happened to a man who posted his story on Reddit, asking if he was the a$$hole for getting annoyed with parents who drive their kids to affluent neighbors on Halloween.

OP, who lives in a wealthy neighborhood, claims that he gets swarmed by children from poorer areas who come to trick-or-treat at his door. He says that they are taking advantage of his generosity and ruining the spirit of the holiday. He also has a fight with his girlfriend, who disagrees with his attitude and wants to welcome all the kids.

The story was shared on the subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?” to know if his stance was wrong or not. What do you think? Share your votes at the end. Scroll down below to read the story!

1. But why? Let’s find out.

2. OP lives in a wealthy neighborhood where his girlfriend moved in with him.

3. For a few years, OP and other neighbors have noticed a lot of different people come from other neighborhoods to this affluent neighborhood during Halloween. The residents don’t like this.

4. OP’s girlfriend, though, believes Halloween is an event to enjoy for everyone. She condemns her boyfriend’s stance.

5. If coming to the affluent neighborhood allows the kids to enjoy Halloween, then they should definitely come.

OP’s girlfriend is absolutely right on this. What is wrong with him is that he doesn’t own the neighborhood. It is a space where anyone can come and go. Perhaps those kids are actually poor and come to this wealthy neighborhood every year for trick-or-treating or to enjoy the true essence of Halloween.

Halloween is a traditional festival. If OP gets to enjoy it every year, then what makes the others different from him? They are all human beings. This just goes on to show that discrimination between the rich and poor still exists. The factor of inequality is still there, and it is always because of the rich. When the poor try to be a part of the rich, they try their best to maintain distance.

OP shouldn’t have a problem with people trying to enjoy their lives. YTA!

6. OP’s annoyance only increased as on this Halloween a lot of people came from outside again.

7. He asked the AITA community members if his opposition to people coming to his affluent neighborhood to enjoy Halloween is right or wrong.
